We also did some scrambling ( hence the helmets)- see the video!
Fiennes walked to Pooley Bridge today. After a 5 mile walk and steamer back, we then went in the tunnels (although there are no pictures of this)! We also did some scrambling ( hence the helmets)- see the video!

Another lovely morning here and we always enjoy a good breakfast to get us ready for the day's activities. Today, Fiennes group are walking and going on the lake, Dalton group are canoeing and Bonnington are gorge walking! Year 5 and 6 had a fantastic last day of term at Tanfield Comp today. The two Steves (Barlow and Skidmore) entertained us with hilarious tales from their stories. As you can see from the video below, it was a fully interactive experience, which the children raved about on the way home! They encouraged us to believe that 'we are all writers'. My favourite part was when they said that you should write about what you know: YOU! They also took the time to talk to Leah about her 100wc post. What was your favourite part? Enjoy the video below - sorry there is no sound, but I've added a Youtube clip to make it more atmospheric! Spooky Literacy Day from Mark temple on Vimeo. Descriptive recount.
Neon vivid lights shone through my eyes. As soon as I walked through the gates, I turned to the left and I saw the light-headed horror- struck world of gloom theme park. I stepped back and quickly realised this day is going to be a very scary day indeed! Rushing with excitement, I came to what i call the terrifying aeroplanes. Suddenly, I felt the wind flying past me I felt really light-headed.they were going up and down and around and around. I was dizzy even though i was just watching it. Following our technical problems today, with some children losing work on Microsoft 365, we found a way to post our 100 word challenges (taking a screen shot of our work, then cropping and posting as a picture)!
Some had to redo them so are a little rushed; thus, be understanding when commenting. It would be great if some of the Year 6s used our positive comments style (as Caitlin has begun to do) which can be found here! By tomorrow all of the 100 word challenges will be linked up to 100wc.net, so don't forget to leave positive comments for others and direct them back to your post by telling them your number on 100wc.net! In fact, Sky has had a lovely comment from a teacher called Miss Newton, because she left such a good comment for another child. Great work, Sky! Also, well done to Caitlin who has started commenting on others' work. This week, we are going to write Explanation texts. Today, we read an explanation text about metals. We had some time at the end to list some features of this kind of writing. For many it was a first attempt using Show Me, but the children have used Show Me to explain what they learnt, either by identifying features of this text or explaining new things they have learned! This week, we have had several awards to give out.
Blogger of the Week/Star of the Week this week is Caitlin. She not only tried the extra 100WC challenge, she also left lots of positive comments on the other class blogs and Miss Hemmings' blog. Sentence of the Week: Confused, the turtle looked around. by Jack F. I chose this because Jack began with the feelings word instead of putting it in the middle; I found his idea was more effective. Text of the Week for Big Writing this week was Ryan Swan. Catch his terrific diary entry based on the Wreck of the Zanzibar below! |
